It looks to me like he's taken the job on thinking 'yep I've got some good young players, a few experienced pro's around the England squad and generally a decent platform for me to show that I can become a good manager'

At Rush Green, a 29 acre site we bought in the summer.

West Ham chief executive Scott Duxbury said: "A new training ground with world-class facilities is fundamental to our vision for the next few years."

Hmmmmm

A second phase of development would create four more training pitches, a new media centre and a state-of-the-art rehabilitation centre.

All very positive if true.

West Ham United have delayed filing their accounts again by taking advantage of a loophole that has given them three months' grace.

The club's accounts to May 2009 had been due at Companies House last week but they instead submitted a form that gives them extra time. It is the third time the Hammers have used the device since the collapse of the business empire...

I see Upson's out with a hamstring strain, then - how many's that this season, even not including Kieron Dyer?

Still, I'm told our medical team are one of the best in the world - and much better than Curbishley's meat and potatoes training.

Which was a vast improvement on Pardew's awful pre-season.

Who took fitness much more seriously than Roeder.

Who in turn was a world away from Good Ol 'Arry's bacon butties*...
