The problem with Ashton is that we are all in love with the idea of what he could be, rather than what he actually is.

Anyone who can't see the sense in selling Ashton wants their bumps felt.
brought January 2006. played in 16 games 05/06 season, and scored 6 goals. Didn't play at all in the 06/07 season Played 35 games in a fairly packed 07/08 season, and scored 11 goals in all competitions. Then managed five games in 08/09 with 2 goals, both against Wigan. So for Seven and a half Million quid, and 4 seasons wages, he's managed 56 games and 19 goals....... If Stoke have proper money, i'd bite their hand off and drive the permenantly crocked fucker up there myself. |

Which is all a bit strange seeing as the Stoke chairman has been on Sky this morning talking about the transfer talks!!!

Maybe he misses the shithole. |

I'd be concerned about using the money to fund a bid for some unproven U21 wop striker from Inter to be honest.
This smells of Maccarone. |

Everybody sells or has to sell at some time (Ronaldo, Anelka the arsenal) But I would just like us to for once have a clear plan.
Parma a tiny club surrounded by the giants 10-12 years ago had a plan. Develop and buy young talent sell a player on for 10mil buy 2 prominsing players for 5mil and it worked, for a few years they were able to construct a team to compete with the best admitedly with some backing from parmalat. So it is possible. But what fucks me off is ever since Rio we sell then try to play catch up. If we had a direction then we could sell our more marketable players who perhaps were overpriced with foreknowledge on what better cheaper ones who we could get to develop and move the club forward. But let'ss face it the club is on its arse so we will sell anybody for a price and get in a cheap loanee to keep the bankers happy. I hope I'm wrong |

I know what you mean Rotter & fully understand, but like a naughty schoolboy I just want to give him one more chance....based on what he's suppose to
be like now having recovered this time and as someone said if he can go someway to fulfilling what he should be then it'll be the right decision.
But if he breaks down again then I'm done, let him go....yes I know, I want my cake and eat it etc. |

A fit Ashton will do the business, is he fit, I've heard he is, and we do not have a better 'finisher' at the club than Ashton, that's a fact.
I think it was 1 goal in every 2 games which includes three very short spells due to injury then a fucked up operation.

The whole Ashton fitness saga has made me weary, and I am tired of discussing his injury problems with the specky liver spotted bald headed cunt Norwich
supporter who I work with. If he is sold, and it saves me another "Ashton is he still injured" conversation at the photocopier, then he will have
been sold for the right reasons.

He's got the best goal scoring ratio of any player we have. He is the best finisher we have. We've just spent the best part of two years getting him
fit. To sell him now would be highly questionable, no one is going to pay enough money for us to be able to BUY a quality replacement so what's the point
of flogging him, we might as well give him one last chance. This so called football project has to have some football input not just balance sheet input. We
aint buying any player worth £15m with this lot in charge, there is more chance of me being signed. As it is, I still don't think this has any truth to it
anyway, if anything I'd say this started out as an enquriy for a loan for a few months.

Yea but he'd be like a new signing.
I wouldn't be surprise moxy if it has been started by us. Give Stoke a sniff, they balk at wages and fee. Lets see who pops up next. Personally I'd give him till Xmas to prove his fitness then decide. If he breaks down again we just cart him off to Belgium to be eaten up for lunch. After all we could have a new money bags owner soon enough. swt |

I'd rather get 5mil now and lose his big salary, than watch him beak down and September and get nothing for him and be stuck with his salary, he reminds me
of Michael Bridges of Leeds/Sunderland, could have been great, but will never be fit.

Michael Bridges was a seriously good player for one season only. What happened to his career is a huge shame. I think he plays for Carlisle in League Two now.

I think we are right to remain sceptical of the project given who its author is. He only cares about one thing, and that's his own round arse. It's
good PR though.
That said we have to get away from the fitness lottery. I look at this entirely negatively. I would hate him to go somewhere else and succeed. Would just like to know the truth for once. Oh and Stoke are also trying to recruit Michael Owen - we see what end the roulette table they are standing at. They are on the fitness risk side, we are on the youth and loan side. |

I said it on WHO and I'll say it again here. Chelsea, Man City and 'one other club' are in the race for Tevez. The 'one other' must be a
left-fielder and I reckon it's us. Deano's 10m will go towards paying for it.
There, I said it. |
