Can someone explain how Pardew seems to have found a winning touch with Newcastle, I thought they hated southerners up there and thought that would be reflected in their results?

Someone mention Newcastle?!

What's Pardew's Secret

The article is a bit dated - 3 months old - but gets to the point.  I think one of AP's strengths at West Ham was how he tapped into the support as a 'non-Hammer' and it's something he did right away at Newcastle.  Going on about passion and all that shite.

They love all that up here, especially when they're winning - even if Mike Ashely and the rest of the 'Cockney Mafia' insist on infuriating them at regular intervals.  Here's a soundbite that might sound familiar.

“I have said we are a big club, and I told our players we had to play like a big club,”

“When you see 4,000 fans at that end, it shows you why we are Newcastle United. It gives us the power.”

“Good teams can deliver on cue ....We were more disciplined, and we got a thoroughly deserved win.”
