The big difference over the last couple of games and one of the reasons I believe our season will improve is up to the January transfer window there's been a chronic lack of firepower in our team. The season's narrative has been one of creating but not finishing chances.

Cole and Nolan have done their job in the goalscoring stakes (I'll let Noble's penalties count neutral for the sake of this argument) but the rest just haven't been hitting the old onion bag. Piquionne and Carew I don't even need to talk about and Baldock's proved (along with his other deficiencies) he can't make his own goals but relies too heavily on others for a supply line. And Ricky Lambert he ain't!

The two players we'd possibly most like to see supporting our lone attacker have been Faubert and Taylor. I'm not about to criticise the performance of either - but one goal each is it? Yet add Maynard and Vaz Te and all of a sudden we've perhaps 30 extra goals a season - or to put it another way a goal every home game.

Suddenly everything changes...

PS: There's nothing anyone can say that'll stop me walking around with a spring in my step and silly grin on my face following last night's result. Some of you don't appear to know joy when it smacks you upside the kisser.
