Bit unfair on Baldock, in my view - which is about 25 yards out at the North end of the ground. Chances were hardly gilt edged, one was a very tight angle at the near post and the other came from an opponent's error and needed to be snatched at. He was the only one who really asked questions of their keeper (who, incidentally, was very impressive - as was our's).

The game was a test of Sam's "play well and keep the shirt" philiosophy which failed on this occasion as Maynard and Vaz Te was a totally impotent combination first half and it was only with the introduction of Carlton Cole that we started to cause them problems. Collison disappointed me again, although I hear he was excellent on Tuesday.

Also raises a big question mark on the "better without Nolan" issue, as we lost the midfield for most of this one.

As you suggest, though, a fairly typical early kick off game after exerting week and I'm not dissatisfied. After all, another game unbeaten, still well placed with a game in hand over most.

Shame I missed your performance in the Wakefield...
Agree on Baldock.

Within minutes of him coming on my reaction was 'he looks sharp, and he's caused the keeper more problems in 5 minutes than Maynard did the whole game beforehand'.  And I knew AMOCS would be slating him for not scoring.

I'm not saying Baldock is the answer, or even that he is better than Maynard - but for my money he is a decent part of the squad, not the cause of us failing to score.
