I'm not sure what you are referring to here, but I am not sure anyone on this thread has said 'Baldock should start every week'.  It seems to me that there are two camps, those who think he can play a significant part of the squad this season and those who think he is not good enough.  What is his level in your opinion?

IMHO he is in a battle for 3rd choice striker with Maynard, far too early to tell which of them has the edge.  Even if he loses this battle he still has a role to play.

I think Toots said this, and I agree, Baldock was a bit of a panic buy/punt at the end of the summer transfer window when we didn't get the strikers we really wanted. All around the ground I keep hearing mutterings about why Baldock isn't playing - and pretty much every blog has him in their starting XI every week.

He has failed to adapt to a wide position and hasn't the physical attributes to lead the line meaning we can only play him as a second striker in a 4-4-2, a formation the manager doesn't like playing. He doesn't appear able to create chances for himself as good strikers do and relies on service from others. Apart from goals he offers little.

Even if we did have a system of rating strikers (and it sounds to me as though that may be a legacy of what you did with your teddies) he's way below Maynard having not yet proved himself in this division...
