If we have learned anything from the recent past it should be not to take action without a UN mandate. If nothing else the rest have to shoulder some responsibility in the decision if not the action. We stand by and allow numerous breaches of Human Rights, abuses that are hard to comprehend, because nations are regarded as 'friends' or in Africa so we don't really care. It is time to consolidate where we are and give the forces a break as we may well need to be showing some strength (rightly or wrongly) with the Argentine fairly soon.
In short we should stay out of it militarily and act as diplomatic enforcers in the corridors of the UN rather than muscle, though I have my doubts how seriously we are now taken.
All in my humble of course.
