Well I admit it was a shock to me too and FWIW to me the notion that Tom and Jerry is racist is laughable. But to some people it apparently portrays racial stereotyping.

The younger generation in this country seem to be a lot more aware of what is politically correct / racist / homophobic. I'm just about to make a massive generalisation, but people over 40 and people who live in parts of the country which are predominately white, just don't seem to be that bothered about racism. What I mean is, it just doesn't occur to them that what they might say or do could be construed (sp?) as racist. For example, Hansen using the term "coloured". I'm not sure it is ignorance, as I think the word ignorance infers that there is something lacking in someone's life. It's just that racism isn't something that is important in a lot of peoples lives and the idea that a comment can be such a insult to someone else is beyond them.
