I agree with that. the idea that a particular game can be inherrently racist is nonsense.

Football is a microcosm of society. But it is in the spotlight, so any incidences of poor behaviour of any type are highlighted.

From my own limited sporting experience, I would think that regularly playing with people from other ethnic backgrounds makes you somewhat less likely to hate someone on the basis of skin colour*. There is a story to be told there, and one that has been told before (think Eddie Barlow marching his entire Transvaal team out of a swish Johannesburg hotel because they wouldn't serve Omar Henry in the restaurant). But it isn't sensational enough for today's television.




*Unless you spend 10 years getting changed next to a bloke with lepers' feet.
