Yeah I thought Lee Dixon displayed the breadth of his knowledge and research when at Half Time of the England v Italy game he said " Italy have only got one decent player in Pirlo and we should  beat them "

He also made a valid point about the early part of the game, when England were getting joy going forward.  In his view the problem came when they lost the ball with everyone bombing on - and the back four didn't know whether to sit or go and close down when Italy broke through Pirlo.  He pointed out that Pirlo played very well but when closed down early didn't do much.  By half time Italy should have been two up at least, having withstood early pressure, with England.back in their shell afraid to go for it.  Essentially, what he was saying was if England had man-marked Pirlo they would have had a better chance, instead they relied on Welbeck and Rooney to track back in midfield.

The point is he quite bluntly interrupted some bollocks Hansen was saying to make this quite valid point 'Alan, Alan, it's not that, it's this...' and if looks could kill Dixon would have been dead.  At that point I knew the writing was on the wall for him.  Who fucking cares anyway.
