Everything about this is so amateurish. What sort of club releases a statement announcing that they are going to play in a more entertaining fashion? It's incredible - such a nonsensical thing for the Club to say, and even more ridiculous when it was so obviously done against the wishes of the manager.

I've said many times that I think Allardyce should go - his results aren't good enough - but I also think that if you're going to employ him then he deserves the chance to fail on his own merits. Instead we have this ridiculous halfway house where Gold and Brady have kept him in the job by forcing this nebulous concept of being more entertaining on him.

For as long as I can remember, West Ham have been a laughing stock and it doesn't feel any different now. When I watched the World Cup it felt like England were playing in a different tournament, and when I watch West Ham from afar it feels like we're at a completely different level to other professional clubs. Can you imagine any other PL club spending over £20m on new strikers and then the Chairman going public with his concerns that they are "not tall enough". It beggars belief.
Excellent post.

I read your last paragraph in Ray Liotta's voice and then slammed down the boot of my car, by the way.
