My take on this is that he is a bloke who is just lost in his own world of nastiness. He has no respect for anyone, is not too bright and doesn't apply himself to the basics of the job, i.e. training. You can't install that in someone I'm afraid, he isn't into drugs or booze which is treatable, he's a guy who is mentally unstable. Best thing for him would be to get sent to an establishment for 6 months to try and sort him out then see whether things improve. Moving too Italy isn't going to solve the problem either, bad boys can still travel on a plane as opposed to a train or a car. The team isn't necessarily better without him skills wise but it is from the viewpoint that the dressing room is a unified unit and having him in it spoils that. Its a delicate balancing act having one written apple being overcome by having several good ones ... and Di Canio was already a proven genius with the football, whereas Ravel is not ...

It's definitely sad to see a guy who could potentially be the best just piss it up the wall - if only he had the foresight to see what a great life he could have if he treated it seriously.
