But I think you make a valid point about not making changes, when Plan A is not working, but if you look at the master of in game changes, Jose Mourinho, you can see that when he calls the changes the team instanteously know what to do and how to play.

I think, I am happy to be proved wrong, that Chelsea train for their games on this basis, making it easy for players to be interchangeable and play differently at drop of a call, the key to it being so effective, as I see it, is in the calibre of the players.

For most teams, of which I put WH in, we don't have this luxury, so the half time talk to get the message across quickly and competently is the most effective method for Sam or Neill to use.

I don't boo at the team, only the ref.
I am sure that there are numerous little tweaks that BFS could make that would benefit spending 15 minutes talking to the players at half time to make sure the message gets across.  Switching to a diamond formation that is one of the systems we've played most this season can surely be done anytime?
