I know we have clogs here, but are there any sausage-eaters? |

The game tonight is live here in Poland, but sadly I have to be in Berlin. Anyone got any local knowledge and can point me in the direction of a bar that will
have it on?

Wasn't angling, but I'll take the points anyway.
Would I have got more if I'd mentioned missing a number of games due to pressing business matters in Moscow at the beginning of February? |

Don't feel you have to apologise for your nations conduct in the war... leave that to them.

Are we getting into the Dresden Bombings and suchlike? Otherwise, I'm not sure that we have to apologise for winning it, do we? Even in the current
political-correctness-gone-mad climate...

Somewhere between Charlottenburg & Spandau there's a shopping precinct next to the main road, inside is an Irish bar with several screens (and a
smoking room). Worth a try, but the rest of the detail unfortunately is gone.

Plenty of pubs with Sky but i doubt if you'll find a place that'll show it with all the championsleague games on.
Pending on where you're staying, you could try the massive "Irish pub" in the big shopping centre next to the Gedaechtniskirge and Europacenter, then there's a massive Sportsbar with dozens of tellies a bit further up the road on Kurfurstendam wich is quite ok in a touristy way. The Oscar Wilde on crossroads of Friedrichstrasse/Oranienburgerstrasse is not too bad and there's another English pub under the railway arches near the Museumisland, can't remember the name but another big pub with Sky, bound to be plenty more that's a few i remember off hand. Or you could nip into one of the numerous Polish pubs with dodgy satelitelinks that might show the game.

Polish pubs would have been a piece of piss. As it is, I'm stuck in a ratty hotel room with a wifi connection for 5 hours at 10 euros and no working
streams.

I watched it, but wished I hadn't.
If June is warm, you could try one of the beach bars near the river. Might be a bit of skirt around... |

Decorated floor to ceiling with GDR memorabilia, good, cheap beers and cocktails and played Johnny Cash the whole time I was in there. Good place to warm up for somewhere bigger/livelier. Nearest station is Hackescher Markt I think. |

Plenty to do in Berlin. It's very 'arty' on the east side of the city and there are plenty of expensive bars to go to and hang out with
Berlin's glitterati.

Last night I went to the FC Twente - Marseille Eufa Cup tie, the French winning 7-6 on penalties. The Twente striker Blaise Nfoku has obviously spent a lot of time pouring over tapes of Marlon Harewood, Bobby Zamora and Carlton Cole and then worked really hard to incorporate all the very worst aspects of their games into his own. He was just dire last night, and I've got no idea what was going through McClaren's head in letting him take the first penalty, which he predictably skied. McClaren himself spent more time outside his technical area than in it, and then repeatedly put his arm around the 4th official when being told to bugger off back to the bench. No umbrella, sadly, despite the heavy rain. Tyrone Mears made a huge impression on the game by remaining on the bench throughout, but was instrumental in the group hug on the touchline throughout the spot-kicks. The Business Club at the stadium is quite cool and their block of seats is right behind the dugouts, so we had a good view. Shame about the stupid little glasses the beer comes in though. The match itself was pretty crap though, truth be told. Hard to believe they were playing for a place in the last 16 of Europe's second cup competition. |

Anything good to do in Dusseldorf? I'm there with work at the end of March for 4 nights.

Miami will be along shortly to tell you everything you've ever wanted to know about the place, including the location of a cheeky little schnitzel factory
that does a tour and a trendy bar (well away from the regular touristy haunts, naturally) that serves a middling to decent drop of Hock.....

Been to Dusseldorf a couple of times recently and have to say found fuck all interesting to do, dull dull dull. Go to the old town just near the main station
and wander around, plenty of good argie steak houses and a few bars. Most of which seemed to be full of men, or women who looked like men. There was a strip
club we went to, where we were the only customers and where the dancer was absolutely drop dead gorgeous, but after she went off, the toothless fat old hags
who were actually talking to you and trying to persuade you to buy them a glass of champagne for 80 euros, were on the whole, not an attractive proposition,
not even pissed. We got thrown out when the 3 of us decided to make our own entertainment by dancing and stripping to our waists.....they didn't see the
funny side.
Having just re-read it, I don't either now..... |

I am reliably informed that there is an excellent traditonal beer keller in Dusseldorf worth visiting.
Otherwise I'm told it is populated with mullets and moustaches. And that's just the women. *badoom, tish* |

Big C wrote: Dusseldorf is the fashion capital of Germany and it;s teeming with top tottie. As mentioned, the old town and down by the river are good locations for bars and restaurants but I struggled to find anything seeder. It's not really a stag night location, but there did seem to be a high percentage of women frequenting the the more upscale bars. Try the one at the SAS Radisson hotel. |
