Two sorts of beetroot:
The pickled stuff you buy in a jar from Sainsbury's. Hellish. The stuff my dad fetched from the garden and mum boiled in a huge saucepan. And that is the stuff Surface talks of... |

The supermarket vacuum packed stuff is very authentic.
Obviously I won't be bandying beets with a man from Bury St Edmunds. |

Talking of root vegetables, it's possibly time for a re-airing of a little story of mine: A few years back I visited Prague on my own for a three-night holiday. On the flight over I got chatting to a gorgeous Czech girl in the seat next to me. She told me about how she loved sport and ice hockey in particular when I mentioned that a West Ham player was Czech. I told her his name, she didn't know him but asked me to spell it. Apparently it means "A root vegetable that is either red or white - but this is the white one". So there it is, we'd been talking about everyone's favourite mentalist Tomas Sugarbeet...

I'm glad it didn't.

Thought the tennis was great yesterday, good to see Federer win, he plays tennis the proper way, one handed like a man should, how the fuck women can get paid
the same amount though I'll never know, with the Lions winning on Saturday it was a good weekend of sport.

Annoying adverts? "We Buy Any Car! (dot com!) Any Any Any Any We Buy Any Car! (dot com!)"
Normally I would agree with moxy that it's just an advert and it shouldn't bother you, but for some reason that one brings me out in a rage I haven't known since the Trident "Meeeee tastebuds is exploding mon!" utter mooncup from a few years ago. And Murray can't be that bad: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2022/1524418380_41d7f3d3b9.jpg |

yes, the Saffas at our place have been strangely quiet today....convinced they'd get a whitewash this tour and there but for a last minute penalty in the
2nd test it would have been a draw.
Still, the rate they're handing power to dodgy blokes like Zuma that country will be another African backwater before soon.... |
