I'm rather enjoying being at home watching this and I'm not the world's greatest cricket expert, but fuck me, doesn't Ian Botham talk some
bollocks?

Ah. Right.
I'm not really sure what any of them are going on about, but it all seems like a rather nice way to pass the day, for sure. |

Absolutely Skerrit, only thing better is being there itself and plugged into TMS on a portable. Like I shall be on Friday...

Ian Botham needs to make sure he doesn't turn into Fred Trueman. He stays the right side, mostly. The best thing about the shots of the commentary box is
seeing how much Nasser and Beefy hate each other.

Can't wait for Cardiff, new ground to see and all that. Have the offer of a ticket at Leeds but can't workout if I can stomach the western terrace all
day...
Hauritz isn't even a first choice for his state side! |

Botham's a clown with the Chris Waddle gift of being able to state a point, contradict himself and then breeze back to the first opinion all in 30
seconds...

Fucking idiot Pieterson...
That's leaves today belonging to the Aussies. Over to Swann. And Monty. *gulps* |

That dismissal is the reason bowlers will always feel they have a chance against Pietersen.
It's also the reason I don't like him. Confidence is a necessity for all good sportsman. But hubris turns what could be a great player into a liability... |

Couldn't agree more. Waiting for the inevitable Flintoff failure with the bat now...

My thoughts exactly. We can only hope that he finds a resemblance of form, and be thankful that we bat fairly deep. |

On a positive note, sounds like the wicket is turning a bit. Sounds like it's swinging a bit as well which will give Jimmy plenty to play with...

327-6 and the day belongs to the Aussies?
Bloody hell, you're hard to please. Tough dismissal for Freddie, who was looking okay. If the last 4 can put on another 50-odd, we're in a winning position. Day one to England... |

It may be just me, but I hate it when we bring in a Nightwatchman.

Fuck me. This must be the first time a no 8 batsman got a night watchman.
Strauss is too, too defensive. |

I reckon par on that wicket is around 400-450, meaning we need another 100 runs or so if we're not likely to give up a first innings lead.
And I agree with you Chin, I've never seen the point of a nightwatchman - and especially not to protect Stuart Broad. One more thing: Why the fuck is Pietersen not at three with Bopara four? It's just another thing that tells me KP has not one speck of regard for anything other than his own ego...

Hack,
I posted that when we were 240ish-5, at that stage it certainly looked that way. Good batting from Fred and Prior have helped England no doubt. Good to see Fred do well with the bat. EDIT: With Prior going, I actually stand by the 'day one to the Aussies' statement. |
