Fantastic result.
Villa would have been top 4 if they'd beaten us, but another performance against a good premiership team. Lets hope Cole isn't going to be out for too long, but in all fairness, Hines scared the shit out of them once he came on. I thought that over 90 minutes we where worth the Victory, and gave Villa loads of problems despite a makeshift defence. |

Really impressed with Franco. Got a touch of Sherringham to him and always had time on the ball. Da Costa got better and Hines was a real pain in the arse and
everything Ginge and Dunne probably hate playing against. Either Green seemed back to his best.

Having just watched the Sky highlights I am well impressed by da Costa's leap - freaky.
Also how neat was Hines's finish? Moore than a stab |

worse reffing/linoing ever, breath takingingly idiotic and against us
our pen was as clear cut and obvious as you can imagine and the ref still had a long look before giving it a pox on the people leaving with over 10 minutes of regular time left |

God, I'm such a tit. I thought it was Tomkins playing instead of Da Costa. I must get my eyes checked!

Hines was fantastic when he came on. It is great to finally see a player who clearly just wants to take people on and beat them for pace. Villa knew he could
beat their back four if he got a run at them and it showed. Impressed with Parker's bollocks- he never hides, covers so much ground and he got smashed
right in the bollocks after throwing himself to block a shot. He just got up and got on with it. What a guy.
Franco looks like he could actually do a decent job holding the ball up and he looks v committed. The performance of the referee and linesmen was terrible. Green pulled off a great, great save to deny Petrov (I think) where he saw it very late and got a hand to it to deflect it over. Da Costa was my MOM. |

Yes, having given him a handbagging previously I thought Parker put in a very good shift tonight. I thought the team played well considering the early loses of
Illunga and Cole. The way UP gasped in unison when Cole went down was quite eerie. One hero leaves the pitch and another comes on to take his place. Well done
little Zavon, you are little darling.

Green's celebration for the winner
sprinted to the corner, threw the flag over the hoarding and dived into the crowd, marvellous, stewards had to throw him back onto the pitch |

Great night. Disagree on MOM. For me, Rob Green by a country mile. Kept us in the game in the first 20 plus the penalty save in the second half. |

1. Green, Hines, Da Costa and Noble were all very good tonight. The first-half save from Green was breathtaking.
2. Scott Parker however, was absolutely superb. 3. Jonathan Spector was a revelation going forward - the partnership between him and Collison worked very well. 4. Our penalty was a stone-waller - why was Beye not red carded? 5. Their penalty was a joke - but Young's goal world class. 6. Brave decision from Zarke/Cola to drop Tomkins and Spector - I'm all for it - without the real threat of being dropped, competition for places is meaningless. 7. Brave decision too, to abandon not only 4-3-3 - but also the diamond at half time and play both Parker and Noble holding. That's what allowed Spector the room to get forward with such good effect. 8. Zavon Hines, fucking hell is he ever a player to make a bad ball into a good one? When he first came through Jermain Defoe was often compared to Ian Wright - I see a lot more of him in Hines - but in a good way... |

I'm a very happy cockney rebel in the Welsh Valley's tonight! And a lot of my Welsh Rugby friends were happy too for me and therefore us too.
Checking my phone constantly tonight in the club kept prompting them to ask how we were getting on. When Hines scored so late and we ended up winning, one of my mates, aged 73 (I know), bought us all a drink to celebrate! Get in!!!! |

Young's goal was fortunate, on TV it was quite clear it was an overhit cross that sailed in over Green, which was his only error of the night, but disagree
with the thought that he was man of the match, that goes to Da Costa Coffee. I'm not sure I've seen anyone leap off the ground that high unaided
before, his shins were almost level with Collins' head as he got the header in, and I'm certain Bennett looked at the video of his decision for our
penalty and wanted to even things up because to give a penalty for that header was probably the worst decsion I've seen in my entire life.
Amocs, on TV here the penalty at first looked nailed on, but Beye does get the ball at the same time he made contact with Hinds, but in those situations the ref normally gives the defender the benefit of the doubt - on this occasion he didn't. Parker was excellent and Spector actually looked quite good, especially going forward and I have to say was more than an adequate replacement for the off form Ilunga. Partnership between Upson and Da Costa was very assured against some very good forwards in Young, Agbonlahor and Carew, all of whom have caused most defences problems but we restricted them to lots of corners and a few pot shots. I can't remember either of them making any silly mistakes throughout the game, not only that but Da Costa has pace, is very good in the air and liked to bring the ball out and always passed the ball positively and accurately, I like that ... Noble had a pretty good game but his dead balls were again very poor, either underhit or overhit. Needs to sort that out because that used to be a strong part of his game. great penalty though, especially as he'd missed the last two When Cole went off the look of horror on the crowds face was evident but Hinds simply gave them other problems they probably hadn't planned for and the lad deserved his goal, a very well taken Di Canio style goal - and he wasn't afraid to get a shot away which is what we've been lacking. Overall a very good performance tonight, aside from a sticky 20 mins after the half time we played some great football and were in control of the game. Aside from Young Villa don't have any match winners and he was always going to be the one to do something albeit the goal was fortuatous. |
